So When Is Oversee Going To Let Customers Of Moniker/SnapNames.com Know They Have Been Sold?

So its now a week since the 1st press release was issued announcing that Moniker.com and SnapNames.com were sold to Key Systems.

In addition to being a blogger I’m a domainer that has multiple accounts at Moniker.com and an account at SnapNames.com where I spend six figures a year,  but to date I haven’t received a email from either Moniker.com or SnapNames.com telling me as a customer that the sites have been sold.

Not an email. Not a call from my Rep. Nothing

A letter from Key Systems, the buyer would have been nice as well letting customers know they now own the services and introduce themselves.

I didn’t get one of those either.

Actually I would have expected in addition to, or at least in lieu of an email and announcement on the front page of both Moniker.com and SnapNames.com site.

Afternic.com just released their weekly report of domain sales and sold $1,066.41 in domain names.

FaceValue.com led the way in reportable sales at $20K.

Sedo Sells $1.73 Million In Domain Names

Sedo.com just published its weekly sales report and in all “894 sales through our marketplace, totaling over $1.73 million”

The reportable sales were led by:

geb.com at 40,000 EUR

Top ccTLD: football-betting.co.uk at 11,800 GBP

Top “other” TLD: lotto.info at 19,500 USD

In an announcement just issued by ICANN (pdf) they are calling for volunteers to “assist in the evaluation of those organizations seeking financial support to apply for a new generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD).”

Hum

ICANN has budgeted some $100 Million dollars from incoming application fees from the new gTLD program and they are asking people to volunteer their time to evaluate applicants seeking financial support.

Throughout the new gTLD process and various Guidebooks and meetings ICANN has stated that financial assistance would be made available to certain worthy  organization that didn’t have the $185K application fee.  This discounted rate if you will was part and parcel of the program.

To now ask people to determine which organization are entitled to financial assistance and a discounted application fee,  for free, well it does

ICANN Opens Comment Period To Hear About Defensive New gTLD Extensions

ICANN has just opened a comment period to hear from people and companies concerned about defensive applications for new gTLD’s.

“”Public comment is requested as to why there may be a perceived need for defensive new gTLD applications and steps that could be considered to help alleviate this concern.”"

The comment period closes  on February 27th.

In announcing the opening of the comment period ICANN said:

“”The New gTLD Program was designed to increase competition and choice by introducing new gTLDs into the Internet’s addressing system. The Application Submission period for gTLD applications opened on 12 January 2012 and will close on 12 April 2012.

Bob Parsons & Richard Rosenblatt Makes The Reuters/Klout Top 50 “Most Influential Execs on the Web” List

Two CEO from the domain space have been named by Klout.com one of the top 50 “Most Influential Execs on the Web

Richard Rosenblatt, the CEO of Demand Media, Inc. is listed as number 34 on the list with a Klout Score of 56.

Bob Parsons, the Executive Chairman of Godaddy.com is listed as number 40 on the list with a Klout Score of 53. (It should be noted that Klout incorrectly still has Parsons listed as the CEO of Godaddy).

Both Richard and Bob’s Klout score are higher as that of the CEO of Group On, LinkedIn and Zynga.

Also making the top 50 list is Esther Dyson one of the most vocal opponents of the new gTLD program who made the list at number 46 as the CEO of EDventure Holdings

Yahoo! Tells Tsavo Media Its Owes Them $4.8 million For Sending Low Quality Traffic to Yahoo Advertisers

According to a Press Release today Cyberplex Inc. (TSX:CX),  subsidiary, Tsavo Media  will have to repay  Yahoo! approximately $4.8 million over a reasonable time period” for sending low quality traffic to Yahoo advertisers.

“Yahoo! is retroactively charging Tsavo for what Yahoo! is now saying was actually low quality traffic, ranging back over many months during 2011.”

“While the Company and Yahoo! remain in discussions on this issue, the Company now expects that Yahoo! will enforce its decision to charge back this amount citing its right to do so pursuant to the terms of Tsavo Media’s agreement with Yahoo!.”

“Cyberplex also announced today that its President, Ted Hastings, has provided his resignation.”

USA Today: Super Bowl Commercials: Dogs Win!!!

According to the USA Today Ad Meter, the race for the Super Bowl Ad race was won by the Dogs.

The top three rated ads all featured dogs.

The Doritos commercial where the big Dog bribes the cat owner was the top rated rate.

The Volkswagen ad where the overweight Dog gets fit took second and the Sketchers ad where the Boston Terrier in Dog in sneakers wins the greyhound race finished third.

The rescue dog in the Bud Light that worked tirelessly to supply a thirsty crowd with beer finished 6th.

In 4th place was the Doritos commercial where the Baby grabs the bag of Doritos sling shot style, the M&M/Mars with the ‘Naked” Brown M&M was 5th.

The Godaddy commercials escaped the bottom 5, but were down towards the bottom on the list.
